“Pisces Sun” is a KOYOT track that shows how a musical seed can grow into a full-blown psych-rock song, starting with Kevin Parker’s bass work. Bassist Donavin Logan wrote the main riff over years, and that patience and creative exploration carried into the release, with the track built around the riff.
Wade Lavallee began the first verse with a little bass work from Logan, and a friend assisted with the second half. The song title emerged naturally during Pisces season, but it came to mean more than a nod to the time of year. There, the words told a deeper story, and Lavallee finished the lyrics with a much clearer sense of where the song was going.
“Pisces Sun” is very special because of the slow development, and the track’s instrumental core is bass-driven, giving it a strong identity.
