“Rollercoaster,” a five-song alt indie folk-rock EP that takes an honest and deeply personal look at the many stages of relationships, has been released by Sailor Bay. Inspired by the artist’s own journey from deep grief after losing Dan, the other half of Sailor Bay, to a place where he lets life and new connections back in, the release explores the emotional highs and lows that make up human relationships.

The EP is a wide-ranging exploration of romance, heartache, openness, and healing, giving you a collection of songs that feel both personal and universal. The title track, “Rollercoaster,” is all about that thrilling, dizzying feeling of falling for someone, but knowing the emotional risks that come with giving your heart away. “Bowie on the Bathroom Floor” steps into those quiet, deeply human moments that characterise a relationship, illustrating where fragility and real intimacy can blossom in unexpected places.

And then there’s “This Isn’t Much,” a slow, but hopeful, heartbreak recovery. Together, these songs demonstrate Sailor Bay’s ability to take ordinary emotional experiences and turn them into well-thought-out and compelling stories. The production is a warm indie folk sound with rock influences, giving a welcoming sound that is still emotionally deep.

There are quiet moments of reflection sitting alongside uplifting rhythms that allow the record to swing naturally between emotional weight and musical accessibility. Sailor Bay takes a personal tragedy and makes it a thoughtful meditation on the nature of connection, showing how grief can change the way we experience love, trust, and hope. The tracks here are a meaningful listen with lasting emotional impact, thanks to effective songwriting and memorable indie folk-rock arrangements.
