Kentucky’s underground rock scene is getting another big gun with the release of Fuzz-rock duo Optics & Design’s latest single, “With Fingers Bent.” McKenna Milburn and Brennan Glacken star in the release, which hints at the darker, heavier direction of their second album, “Tongues In Cheek,” recorded at Dangerpin Studio.

“Fingers Bent” is rooted in garage rock and punk, with distorted guitar riffs, rapid drums, and gritty desert-rock textures. The production revels in its roughness for a strong presence. Milburn’s harmonies add depth and contrast, while Glacken’s commanding lead vocals drive it forward.

The single also signals the duo’s continued evolution from their beginnings in a Kentucky shed. They built a regional profile in just two years with nine singles and shows across the Southeast and Midwest. The band is ready to take their sound into darker territory as they prepare to release their next full-length project. Optics & Design thrives on distortion, velocity, and direct expression in a musical landscape where polish is often valued. “Fingers Bent” is a strong direction and cements the duo’s status as an indie-rock act to watch.
