Not all endings are farewells, and MIVA takes a different emotional stance on heartbreak, ending the “High Priestess” chapter with “Do You,” a quiet confidence rather than desperation. The song gets that some relationships can get under your skin, but not enough to want to bring them back from the dead.
“Do You“ is built on alternative R&B and electronic production, making for a sound that is both intimate and cinematic. Emotionally, the crux of it is that when you leave, you don’t have to pretend that the past never happened. MIVA shows the view of someone who knows what the connection meant, but also accepts where things are now.
Ethereal vocal layers float throughout the track, creating a near other-worldly atmosphere around the performance. The last few seconds are a smoky sax, processed to the point you can’t tell it from an electric guitar. This blurs the ending and leaves it haunting. “Do You“ is a fitting reflection, built on certainty, not the heartbreak of loss. There is a strength to knowing that a relationship mattered without believing it needs to continue.
