Sometimes the best memories aren’t about luxury, and Jutt Huffman takes that idea and turns it into a breezy country-rock celebration with “Smooth Sailing, matching roaring guitars and gritty vocals with the spirit of easy days at the lake.

Written in 2020, the track reflects on a time when there was no luxury, no boat, and no need for either, and was co-written with longtime friend Nick Walker. It was about good company and the memories that counted. That straightforward base gives “Smooth Sailing a laid-back soul, its sound heading for full-throttle country rock.

The music video captures that journey, and Huffman begins adrift in a little dinghy, then moves to a johnboat, then a fishing boat, then finally a $10 million yacht with an audience. But the ending returns to the original dinghy, where the story began, and it drives home the release’s message that bigger is not always better. “Smooth Sailing celebrates friendship, freedom, laughs, and memories that are forever etched in our minds. It’s country rock with laid-back soul and a real understanding of the good times long after.
