The first track, “Hyperborean Suite,“ is set in some far-off northern land and comes from the release “Solace and the Wave,” Christos Anagnostou Daly’s first EP. It is an instrumental track, written with the image of somewhere slightly magical, icy, and vast in mind.

The music treats this composition as a journey to a place more in imagination and myth than in ordinary geography. The title comes from Hyperborea, the mythical land of the ancient Greeks to the north of the north wind. The idea gives the piece a strong conceptual through-line, but not a narrative one. The music signals a turn into the unknown, starting with doubt, then slowly growing larger and brighter.

The EP’s opening track, “Hyperborean Suite,“ sets up the world to come. It not only names the project, but also infuses it with the spirit of travel and discovery that is intrinsic to it. Christos Anagnostou Daly takes an ancient mythical image as a starting point for an instrumental voyage, where distance, ambiguity, and eventual light characterize the music.“Hyperborean Suite“ invites us to move toward somewhere unknown, with the promise of something greater revealed along the way.
