Gintsugi’s five-song EP “Strangers” explores the complex relationship between identity, self-discovery, and human connection through alt-pop and electro-pop. Created between Italy and France, the project reflects on how unknown parts of ourselves emerge through personal experiences, emotional wounds, and meeting others.
“Strangers” treats identity as a process of instinct, memory, openness, and the relationships that make us who we are. Produced by Maurizio Sarnicola at Goldmine Studios, the first four tracks are built on synth bass, guitar, and drum machine, providing an electronic foundation for the EP’s introspective path. Vadim Bernard’s drums add instrumental depth to “Ton Miroir” and “The Gift.” The final track, “Battlefield,” is co-written and co-produced with French artist FAV, in keeping with the project’s collaborative ethos.
The tracklist is a masterclass in self, from secret fantasies and shattered identities to imperfection and childhood’s lasting effects. The focus track, “The Gift,” redefines emotional scars as chances to grow, and “oh my kid” explores the defining moments that create adulthood. The EP’s theme of connection is exemplified in “Battlefield,” which questions if love should be a never-ending battle.
“Strangers” offers a thoughtful look at personal change in an era when conversations about mental health, identity, and healthier relationships remain important. Gintsugi presents a project that makes sense, feels true, and places self-understanding and the need to connect with meaning at the center of its artistic vision.
