French folk outfit Hélianthème are back with “À Border l’Artimon,” the opening track and lead single from their second EP. The song is part of a six-track body of work recorded at Audioscope, with producers Charles Domange and Tom Fonty, and mastered in Argentina by Carlos Laurenz, a production journey that itself speaks to the artists’ reach and attention to craft.
The song wavers somewhere between the satirical French chanson and the traditional sea shanty, two forms with a long history of storytelling rooted in community and defiance. That mix gives the song a texture that feels both familiar and alive. The production is lean and purposeful, letting the arrangements breathe but keeping the song firmly in the folk idiom.
What makes this release special is how confidently Hélianthème walks the line between homage and originality. The accompanying music video, exclusively shot for this release, expands that visual language and the cover art by Octopus BZH ties the full EP together as a cohesive second chapter. “À Border l’Artimon” is proof that folk music, played with such clarity and craftsmanship, just endures.
