FangSlinger is back in rare form, sinking their teeth into the unashamedly audacious “Bloodsucker Blues.” The UK gothic-western hard rock act has made a name for themselves as a new kind of rock ‘n’ roll rebellion, a new incarnation of an outlaw band of brothers that plays dark and dirty music. This new single finds the band unveiling their silliest and most unsettling creation yet.
“Bloodsucker Blues” exudes a timeless vibe as if written inside a moist, dusty, moonlit western town. The song exudes vampiric lust, combining gothic imagery with the venomous edge of raw and infectious rock energy. It’s a wild party of everything riotous and irresistibly seductive, filled with a musicality that is both punchy and personable.
The song, which the band’s members, the brothers Ciaran Frost and Connor McGovern, Eve McGovern and Dan Fox, all wrote together, captures a feeling of liberation and excitement and is, according to the band, their “most joyfully vampiric” track yet. Their rock n’ roll side is let out to play in the dynamic arrangement, and every note, vocal, and instrumentation contributes to the party vibe. BloodRose’s legato keyboards and vocals spiral about Hangman’s raspy guitar, and FangSlinger’s ballistic vocal delivery once more takes point, full of bravado and bite.
Produced by Dan Fox, “Bloodsucker Blues” is just the right balance of darkness and fun, heavy on rhythm and atmosphere, and will leave you in a trance. The visuals, directed by Zero Visuals, bring life to this with an appropriately haunting but playful mood, fitting perfectly with the track’s wild energy and flirty underbelly.
At its heart, “Bloodsucker Blues” exemplifies FangSlinger’s unfettered commitment to forging new music while always holding near and dear to their rock-based, western/spaghetti-inspired storytelling and vampire lore. With this new track, it’s obvious they’re no longer raising the stakes but playing a whole new game.
