LA-based indie dance duo Manics returns with their gripping new single “Numb,” a sound that came along with the emotional cure from the dancefloor. This high-octane release for the duo comprises Jordan Deherrera and Chris Sanders, and you know they’ll consistently deliver introspective moments alongside dancefloor-friendly moments.

“Numb,” praised as a “bit of a rave ballad,” is the second single from the duo’s EP released via Mind of a Genius Records. This song pulls you into an emotional spiral that lifts you back out with pneumatic thumps. It’s a song for when the music, the lights, and your feelings become one in those late-night moments.

The production work on “Numb” is mesmerizing. It opens with raw, intimate vocals that go right to the heart and then builds in waves of deep UK bass lines and ethereal sampling. As the song reaches its crescendo of color, the textures deepen, thanks to Manics’ analog synth layering, and create a sonic blanket that feels both dreamy and futuristic. The equilibrium of the warmth of their hardware-driven sound and the track’s crisp, club-ready mix makes “Numb” a standout in our contemporary electronic world.

The most interesting part of “Numb” is its genre-bending nature. Blending indie dance with melodic techno and house to become a statement in Manics’ boundary-pushing. This story, told through music, creates a sense of longing even as it makes you move. Whether you’re in the thick of a packed dancefloor, beaming at the flashing lights, or vibing alone, headphones in, “Numb” is an experience. It’s a song that brings home the fact that there’s room for vulnerability even in the middle of ecstasy.
