In hip-hop, legal woes often accompany fame, and rapper Blueface, whose real name is Johnathan Porter, is certainly no exception. Despite being a popular figure, fans have been questioning his legal status after he was involved in a shooting incident in Las Vegas in 2022.

It was still in October 2022 that a man named Kentavious Traylor found himself the victim of a rather serious altercation outside Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. The twist is that only one of the men involved even had a gun, and the only injury to Traylor himself was a bullet graze to his hand. Investigators moved swiftly, and Blueface was arrested in November 2022. The rapper later pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the shooting, paving the way for a key court appearance.

At an appearance before Judge Kathleen E. Delaney, Blueface was at risk of serious jail time. However, rather than a long prison term, he received a probationary sentence of three years, which was subject to strict terms. The judge warned that should Blueface commit any violation of probation, especially one involving a weapon, it could cause a minimum of two years and a maximum of five years in prison for him. Blueface must avoid the Las Vegas Strip and downtown unless it’s for work as part of his probation. He is also prohibited from contacting Traylor and from using or possessing drugs and alcohol.

Not everyone was pleased with the court’s ruling. Traylor expressed frustration, feeling like the rapper got let off too quickly. Blueface’s lawyers, Kristina Wildeveld and Lisa Rasmussen, stayed focused on the path ahead. Since then, the rapper has returned his focus to his career and personal life. He also took to social media to comment on the case, expressing confidence despite the legal tumult.
