Nashville singer-songwriter AJAYE blesses us with a deep, two-sided acoustic folk treasure in her recent release “Phone Bill,” that feels as personal as a late-night conversation, yet as uplifting as a call to action. Written with prolific songwriter Joni Delaurier, the song transcends the average folk ballad, and it’s a filmic, soul-stirring ode to perseverance, spirit, and finding solace in conquering the unknown.

That long guitar strum at the onset of “Phone Bill” plunges you into AJAYE’s space, where she captures the earth tones and an old perspective. A song for regular women, reworking their tales, rescuing themselves from the old chapters, and bravely wishing for better. The stripped-down arrangement allows AJAYE’s rich, soulful vocals to shine through, lending weight and emotional depth to every phrase.

The release of this single comes as AJAYE gears up for her fourth European tour, which will see her spend nearly a month on the road from August 22 / September 9, hitting a plethora of towns in Ireland, Denmark, and Germany, including Shannon, Svenborg, Hanover & Wiesbaden, and several more. And that’s the perfect place for the song to start, as “Phone Bill” feels like it wants to engage with space just a little, and its live, acoustic nature is perfect for wrapping you in an intimate hug.

Recorded live during a two-hour session at The Henhouse Studio, the track captures moments of live performance in real-time, including every breath, each detail, and nuance of the guitar work, as well as the interaction between the artist and the audience. The track, mixed and engineered by Steve Dawson, features a live-filmed video from Music Neighbors, produced by Joe E. It’s a standout track from the album Silverline (Live at The Henhouse), set to be released on October 2, 2025. With the project, the goal is to preserve AJAYE’s performance, raw and honest, and allow audiences globally to watch from front-row seats wherever they may be.

In “Phone Bill,” AJAYE speaks about resilience, positivity, taking risks, and the courage it requires to aspire forward. It is a song for those who have faced doubt and decided to answer anyway. If this song is any indication, “Silverline” should be an album that not only sits on a shelf somewhere but also resides in the hearts, playlists, and road trip mixes. With AJAYE crossing over the Atlantic, we can be assured she will win fans one folk night at a time.
