Bold and introspective, “Dreaming” is a turning point in the artistic career of Jaime’s Tone, the musical moniker of Jacques M. Consisting of four tracks, the EP demonstrates that he’s fully embraced the project’s progressive and hard rock stylings, which have been a part of the project since its 2019 inception.

The EP opens with “Finally Free,” lending the collection a sense of wonder and propulsion. This is a blast of rock energy that balances the line between grit and clarity, laying the groundwork for what follows. With its patchwork of textures and harmonies, “Preamble” shifts the mood. Liliia Kysil delivers a memorable vocal section that maintains a strong presence by filling in as many soundscapes as possible. This song serves as a transition, later drawing you further into the contemplative heart of the EP.

“Where is it?” is an extended version of the EP, focused on experimentation and mood. It intertwines complex instrumentation with a blend of unresolved curiosity and resolved contentment, evoking an immersive experience. The most significant aspect of the project is the title track, “Dreaming,” which serves as its closing track. The lyricism of guest singers Phoebe Carter and Alex VanTrue elevates the song, making it feel intimate and epic at once. Just a little over 22 minutes long, “Dreaming” does leave a mark. It is a labor of love that reflects the desire of Jaime’s Tone to grow and explore new sounds.
