The Low Stakes Band’s new single, “End of War,” is a soft, hopeful vision of what people might become. They pivot back to their roots in this song, which adopts a warm folk feel. The song builds on The Beatles’ cultural legacy and John Lennon’s message in “Imagine.”

It has an air of hope that feels thoughtful and forward-looking. But the imaginative impulse behind “End of War” is surprisingly personal. The idea came after reading The Lorax to the songwriter’s young son and reflecting on its intense “UNLESS” message that transformation occurs only when someone chooses to care.

The Ken Burns and Lynn Novick documentary “The War” also sparked additional ideas. “End of War” is very much the alternative-folk style for which it’s known, showcasing sincerity and deep storytelling. Its message is delivered in a quiet conversation, allowing you time to contemplate the potential for a kinder tomorrow. Mixing fantasy with reality, The Low Stakes Band creates songs that are both timeless and heartfelt.

The song was written long ago, but it is now seeing official release. Its message remains just as relevant today as it was then. A previous version even took First Place in the USA Songwriting Contest, and The Moody Blues’ Judge Mike Pinder said that John Lennon would have loved the song. With “End of War,” The Low Stakes Band shows us that hope, imagination, and storytelling can still change our perspective on this world.
