In a bombshell testimony that might upend the trajectory of Sean “Diddy” Combs’s ongoing legal woes, singer and former flame Cassie Ventura took the witness stand for a second day on May 14 and shared disturbing new revelations about her 11-year romance with the hip-hop mogul. The courtroom was quiet as Cassie detailed years of what she described as manipulation, coercion, and blackmail, which included a pattern she called “freak-offs,” an intimate act between Diddy, herself, and male escorts. These weren’t just frequent, Cassie relayed these encounters left her physically nauseous and emotionally devastated. More troubling is her contention that Diddy employed secretly filmed footage of these freak-offs as a Trump-esque form of control. She didn’t know he would make threats against her and said that he would release them if she didn’t do what he wanted to do, Cassie was trapped, and there was no way out.

The emotional heft of Cassie’s statement just layered another chilling element to an already scandalous case. During her testimony, she repeatedly said the fear of public shaming and her future career being destroyed discouraged her from coming to the police or speaking out against Diddy. This kind of blackmail, she opined, is one of the reasons that she bowled in these “freak-offs” despite what it did to her mentality and health. She also spoke about having repeated infections such as UTIs and mouth ulcers. At one point, she was taking a lot of opiates, oxycontin, and Vicodin.

“AUSA: How would you recover from a freak off? Ventura: I’d take opiates. I wanted to feel numb. We’d get massages, I.V. fluids. The chef would cook us something. AUSA: How often did you take opiates after freak-offs? Ventura: Often.” Additionally, Cassie explained how painful this was and even read some alleged text messages to Diddy aloud. “AUSA: Let’s read this out loud. Ventura: “I have all these sores on my tongue. I have another UTI.”

The prosecution then inquired about her frequency of using opiates after the encounters. “Frequently,” she said in a low but adamant voice. Also in court was testimony regarding the psychological tactics Diddy supposedly used to maintain his stranglehold. Cassie said she endured regular verbal abuse. His threats to release the secret footage were not empty bluffs but strategic, sustained attempts to break her spirit. The disclosures were revealed at the same time prosecutors were trying to establish a pattern of abuse and manipulation related to Diddy’s lifestyle and its inner circle. Those so-called “freak-offs” have been central to the trial, and Cassie’s testimony is strong evidence they weren’t consensual play but choreographed and coerced acts aimed to humiliate and control.

Lawyers and legal analysts say the testimony could carry enormous weight with the public and the jury. If those reports are borne out, using intimate video against the women could not only serve in court as evidence of psychological harassment, but it could open the door to additional charges of coercion and unlawful surveillance. For Cassie, the court is where she can retake her voice. And now, as her words reverberate far outside the courtroom walls, the world is left to grapple with the deeply troubling portrait she painted of one of music’s most powerful men.
