London’s genre-bending virtuoso, Jim Legxacy, is back and has more than a vibe. His new single, “stick,” released on the iconic XL Recordings, is a soulful spiral into self, soundtracked by chipmunked harmonies and sharp storytelling, which linger long.

Basking off the welcomed reciprocation of “father,” Jim stays in the fast lane with “stick,” a track just as lived-in as it is experimental. Teased first during a high-energy livestream with Plaqueboymax, alongside scene-shakers YT, Fimiguerrero, and Len, “stick” has been building buzz.

Jim Legxacy does more than rap as he tells stories. He confesses. His melodies bend, and his bars stretch in a musicality that’s equal parts underground freestyle and reflective memoir. “stick” reveals itself as a diary entry of intimate, restless, and unmistakably London. His flows tumble carelessly over a background of warbled vocal loops, adding a dreamy texture to the track that feels grounded, somehow, in gritty realism. There’s a heft to the words, autobiographical shards woven with UK slang and poetic defiance.

What makes “stick” really stick is Jim’s ability to switch gears without losing his way. One moment, he’s pasting a verse with vulnerable self-reflection, and the next, he’s drilling through the beat with flows that feel pulled directly from a midnight cipher in South London. The production is minimal but purposeful, intentionally scrappy at times, allowing his voice space to stretch, twist, and shatter.

It isn’t easy to pigeonhole Jim Legxacy into one genre and that is precisely the point. He’s not in pursuit of radio hits, as he’s building a lane that’s thoroughly personal and willfully rough-hewn. “stick” is the sound of an artist in motion, a building legacy of unfiltered truths.
