Ciara is back, and her newest track, “Ecstasy,” out on her label, Beauty Marks Entertainment, is a slow-burning seduction that easily reestablishes her territory in the R&B galaxy. “Ecstasy” is our first authentic taste of what’s to come with her eighth studio album, “CiCi,” due by July 11, 2025, and it’s pure velvet.

Penned by the dependable Theron Thomas and co-produced by Leather Jacket (Ciara herself), Courtlin Jabrae, Andy D. Park, and hitmaker Tommy “TBHITS” Brown, “Ecstasy” explores Ciara’s characteristic blend of sultry vocals and entrancing production. Rich and multilayered, the production is light and airy but intimate, letting Ciara’s vocal glide with confidence and restraint.

The song’s accompanying music video, directed by longtime collaborator Diane Martel, also visually mirrors the track’s steamy elegance. Martel, who directed Ciara staples such as “Promise” and “Ride,” returns to a familiar field with fresh eyes. The result is a feast for the eyes, equal parts sensual and artistic, enhancing the song’s mood. It’s Ciara in her regal, sexy, and cool as all hell.

What’s exciting is that “Ecstasy” seems more than the prelude as a statement. The six years since her last full-length, 2019’s Beauty Marks and the 2023 EP “CiCi” mean this moment is not about reinvention. It’s about evolution. “Ecstasy” is not a trend chaser but the thing that hovers above trends.

If this single is anything to go by, “CiCi” is on track to be an album of grown-woman energy, creative liberation, and confidence. With an all-star team behind her, including BossMan Dlow, Chris Brown, Busta Rhymes, Big Freedia, and Lil Baby, there’s reason to think that Ciara’s summer comeback will be one of the most exciting moments in music this year. “Ecstasy” is more than a vibe, and it summons. Ciara reminds us to listen when she speaks low.
