The Los Angeles rock trio HAIM has returned with more than their signature harmonies and infectious grooves. Their new single, “Relationships,” out now on Columbia Records, is a reflective, genre-surfing journey about the unpredictability of human connection.

Produced by the group’s longtime collaborator Rostam Batmanglij with Danielle Haim, the song retains the warmth that everyone associates with HAIM but explores new emotional territory. “Relationships” feels familiar, yet fresh, coming right out of the gate, the perfect combination of the band’s traditional rock roots and more ethereal, contemporary textures. The track unfolds in a hypnotic rhythm, mimicking the swing of relationships on an emotional level.

HAIM’s storytelling is sharper than ever. The trio quickly establishes the tone, honing in on that universal moment of confusion when feelings get too tangled to unravel. It’s a song that bathes instead in uncertainty, making it more relatable. To visualize the song’s narrative, HAIM partnered with director Camille Summers-Valli on the official music video, which stars the band and actor Drew Starkey. The visuals add depth to the storytelling, exploring themes like intimacy, miscommunication, and the silent moments that say more than words.

With “Relationships,” Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim define why they remain one of the most compelling bands in modern music. They create experiences that linger with you. You’ll feel this song whether in love, out of love, or between.
