From the heart of Katowice, Poland, Undergone introduces their debut single, “Falling Apart.” It is a slowly simmering, emotionally raw deep dive into night terrors and inner turmoil. Anchored by brooding guitar work and a sound contrasting jagged textures with smoother atmospherics, “Falling Apart” combines grunge’s emotional wallop with post-rock’s cinematic swell and shoegaze’s hazy dreaminess. The result is a song in no rush to establish itself that lingers, haunts, and finally collapses in a wall of sound that’s cathartic and crumbing.
The band’s two guitarists, Dawid Bestry and Kamil Orszulik, paint the landscape with a gradual sense of tension. The opening minutes of the song are suspenseful, like a dream you can’t quite shake. And then Wiktoria Borecka’s voice glides in, a haunting, almost ghostlike presence pulling us further into an account of a night terror that descends into confusion, discombobulation, and emotional collapse.
By the time the track hits its crescendo, it is a jangly, guitar-driven outro that effectively sounds like you are inside the experience. The production embraces the uneasiness, deploying noise not as filler but as a story. Every fuzztone, every reverb-soaked note feels like a deliberate choice. To keep that personal touch is the eye-catcher cover artwork, designed by vocalist Wiktoria. It includes a scan of an actual journal entry so you can peek through the window to the soul that inspired the song. This is a part of the story.
