The Amazons release their new single, “Night After Night.” They’ve doubled down on the percussive essence of what makes them one of the UK’s most exciting rock bands. Thundering with relatable chaos, this track is a critical, unfiltered taste of their follow-up album, “21st Century Fiction,” which will be released by May 9th.

“Night After Night” features jagged riffs for sweaty venues and late-night drives. The guitar work is urgent, and the gritty push-and-pull of frustration and clarity is tethered by frontman Matt Thomson’s vocals, which hold just the correct quantity of anguish and swagger.

“Night After Night” is a layered metaphor. Written after a visit to the surreal Los Angeles burlesque bar Jumbo’s Clown Room, the band uses this quirky backdrop to dig into deeper themes of repetition, habit, and the cages we make for ourselves. Be it a dead-end routine, a toxic relationship, or just the mundanity of modern life, the song repeatedly captures that twisted feeling of living the same day.

“Night After Night” is classic, big, brooding, and gloriously cinematic. But it also reflects a more nuanced approach to storytelling, sharper production, and a willingness to go darker without losing the energy that makes them so electric.
