South Arcade returns with a bang today, releasing their latest single, “Supermodels,” through BKM Artists and LAB Records. This is more than a jam in their catalog, a daring jingle that establishes they’re not playing anyone else’s game.

Right from the opening second, “Supermodels” feels like a nostalgic journey to the golden era of 2000s punk-pop, but as soon as you think you’ve got them pegged, South Arcade is changing the game. What begins as a contagious, high-octane anthem soon devolves into an unrepentant, dance break that nobody was prepared for. It’s unexpected and audacious.

A band famous for fusing contemporary production with Y2K influence, the group explains that the track is their means of experimenting while still keeping it fun and irresistible. South Arcade explained that they wanted to really push the boundaries of a 2000s pop-punk accessible jam that ends up having the most obnoxious dance break in it.

“Supermodels,” produced by the band and mixed by Thomas Mitchener, brims with an attitude, demonstrating a skill for channeling the chaotic energy of youth, ambition, and the relentless search for a good time. It’s the sort of track that you crank up on a road trip, scream along to at a festival, and surrender to on the dancefloor.
