After weeks of speculation and waiting, Metro Boomin has finally announced that A FUTURISTIC SUMMA will indeed be dropping on August 1 via Republic Records. After the planned July 22nd release date passed, the St. Louis-born superproducer is proving that he’s making up for lost time with a star-studded rollout and a brand-new cinematic teaser that has everyone on the Internet talking.
The announcement was made in the form of a mini trailer across Metro’s social networks, which was promptly caught by Kurrco on X. The cool, sci-fi-inspired teaser resembles a snippet of a music video. The visualizer for the track was first made available to fans on July 4, shortly after the project was announced. The trailer gave a peek at the stacked feature list that makes “A FUTURISTIC SUMMA” so heavy-hitting. The imagery hints at cameos from Quavo, who was one of the first names associated with the project. But that is barely the start.

In the days after the delay, Metro tactfully announced additional contributors with a string of voicemail-ish snippets, each featuring a different artist confirming their participation. These cryptic hype-inducing snippets were emblematic of Metro’s creative rollout plan and extensive network with trap music royalty.
Now that we finally have an official date, the anticipation is heating up. Alongside those names above, “A FUTURISTIC SUMMA” will include guest verses from Southern rap royalty T.I., 2-Chainz, Waka Flocka, and Young Dro, making clear that not only is the project a summertime release, but also a straight-up trap celebration through the ages.
