MC4D set out to push boundaries by releasing their new EP, “Wanderings,” an incredible genre-bending fusion of folk and country with modern electronic fusion. With its attack, MC4D reaches into an entirely new lane in a world where house and bass often define dance music, adding Americana’s raw storytelling, organic instrumentation, and emotional insight to excitably rhythmic blurs.

The “Wanderings” EP spans seven tracks and takes listeners on a free-for-all adventure into memories mixed with an exploration of musical creativity. Standout tracks such as “Travel On” typify the wild ethos of red-dirt country, making it the perfect soundtrack for vagabonds and restive souls with plenty of road in front of them. “Wyoming” provides some uplifting, euphoric burst that feels custom-built for drives with the windows down through endless landscapes.

MC4D’s rare ability to match folk-leaning songwriting to pulsating production recalls the pioneering folk-house sound of Avicii, but they execute their descendants in a way that is their own. “Be Here With Me Now” and “Away From You” shine with their heartfelt lyrical content and pulsating structures, illustrating MC4D’s talent to merge personal storytelling with club-ready beats.

With a running time of just under 26 minutes, “Wanderings” is an experience. It welcomes listeners on a journey where soul-gripping compositions pass through festival-primed production to do a project that speaks to those in love with all things country and those broken by dance music. In a rapidly evolving music landscape, the electronic neighborhood has also been mixed with the kinds of music that bring you groove and funk in new ways. MC4D shows plenty left to discover in a world that is moving digitally and becoming desaturated.
