The ongoing spread of the Coronavirus has thrown the festival season into disarray, as many of the most prominent events on the calendar have either postponed or altogether canceled this year’s celebrations. Coachella has already been rescheduled for October, and the big sports leagues, including the N.B.A., N.H.L., and M.L.B., have pressed the pause button. But one festival is carrying on against the odds, and that is Glastonbury 2020.

Marking its 50th anniversary, the legendary UK festival has announced a lineup as bold as it is unwilling to be overshadowed by the uncertainties of the world. Headlining the milestone event is the Pulitzer Prize-winning rap icon Kendrick Lamar.

That’s all directly from Glastonbury’s own Emily Eavis, who posted the festival’s position on Instagram. Among those joining Kendrick on the star-studded cast are worldwide superstars Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, Thom Yorke, Anderson .Paak, Big Thief, Burna Boy, Sir Paul McCartney, Lana Del Rey, etc.

With Glastonbury still slated for June 24th, fans hope the festival will continue unabated. For Kendrick Lamar, it also invites rumors of a new album that would make his set even more tantalizing later that day. As the world watches and waits, if Glastonbury 2020 does happen, yes, it will be a historic moment for music and resilience in the face of uncertainty.
