Manchester alt-rock ravers “Hot Milk” have released a bombastic new single, “Swallow This.” The quartet, consisting of Han Mee (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Jim Shaw (lead vocals/guitar), Tom Paton (bass), and Harry Deller (drums), is back with a burning message that goes straight to the heart of the 21st century media-driven world. The track is the second single to be taken from their forthcoming second studio album Corporation P.O.P., which is set for release on June 27, 2025, through Music For Nations.
“Swallow This” is a song of protest, a scathing critique of the power players who use the media to manipulate and control. The title alone summarizes that the song is about a blunt, unadulterated tirade against anybody, often the government nowadays, who force-feeds you their agendas. The band tackles the frustration of the onslaught of press coverage seeking to control, confound, and silence with unvarnished emotion and an unsparing point of view.
“Swallow This,” was written by Jim Shaw, K.J. Strock, Hannah Mee and Zach Jones, and it was also produced by Jim Shaw, K.J. Strock, and Zach Jones. The track plays as a beautiful wall of sound, furious and cathartic, Mee’s vocals blazing through the noise like a rallying cry. The riffage and pummeling drums are as intense as the message, generating a landscape as abrasive as addictive. This song comes from Hot Milk at its most unapologetically rebellious, jabbing all the pressure points of society’s media addiction and toxic control over us. It’s a statement, a song that demands to be felt.
On the verge of releasing “Corporation P.O.P,” “Swallow This” proves that Hot Milk is playing on a new level and intends to push all kinds of boundaries in the alt-rock scene. Hot Milk firmly establishes itself in the punk-pop scene with its marriage of punk attitude, evocative lyrics, and cavernous sound.
