In a genre built on emotion and electric energy, British pop-punk quartet Goldstate has exploded onto the scene or, to put it more accurately, detonated. London’s undeniable pop prowess is captured in their debut single, “Love Bomb,” featuring London-based singer-songwriter WALWIN. It is an aural explosion of visceral emotion, addictive hooks, and blunt punk attitude that heralds a thrilling beginning to the band’s chapter.
“Love Bomb” hits the ground running from its opening chords. It’s the kind of track that makes you want to throw your windows wide, scream the language, and recall every messy, beautiful minute you ever spent falling for someone. The guitars, played by James and Jez, slice through the beat like a knife, while Amy’s relentless drumming propels the track like a heartbeat on the brink. But Ben’s gritty, raw, and magnetic voice makes this debut stick.
WALWIN’s vocal blend provides contrast and depth, so Goldstate couldn’t have chosen a better collaborator. The chemistry crackles together like fire and fireworks. WALWIN bears the heavy emotional weight of the song, embodying that all-consuming, intoxicating feeling of being eaten up by love.
“Love Bomb” encapsulates the experience of being in love, the highs, the lows, and everything in between. And that mission is completely accomplished. The track makes angst and euphoria coexist blithely, hurling listeners on a psychedelic ride that reveals what life in young, reckless love might feel like. The music video, conceived as a fake news report covering “Love Bomb” as a viral event, lends a clever visual twist to an infectious song. It’s a cheeky reference to the notion that love, like a pop-punk anthem, travels fast and packs a punch.
A debut under Punkerton Records, “Love Bomb,” is the first of five singles Goldstate plans to unleash in 2025, a precursor to their full-length debut album in early 2026. If this cut is any indication of what’s ahead, it’s going to be a rollicking, emotional journey. Goldstate released a statement. “Love Bomb” is bombastic, candid, and impossible to ignore.
