Rap superstar Drake has peered into the seedier side of his high-stakes gambling addiction in a rare moment of public exposure. Posting to his Instagram story Wednesday night, shortly before Game 6 of the NBA Finals, the Toronto native revealed he’s racked up millions of dollars in losses over the past month gambling on sports. “Gotta share the other side of gambling,” Drake wrote alongside a screenshot of his betting history. “Losses are so fried right now. I hope I can post a big win for you all soon cause I’m the only one that has never seen a max these guys max once a week.”

The post was wall-to-wall red, and his account was allegedly negative for the week, two weeks, and month. Although Drake didn’t name all of the sports he bets on, his recent activity revealed that he’s been engaged during the NBA and NHL playoffs and even placed a rather unusual $750,000 bet on June 2nd for a cricket match betting on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to beat the Punjab Kings.

And yet, being Drake, he’s far from disheartened. Drake is gambling again with a massive $600,000 stake on the Oklahoma City Thunder to win Game 6 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the Indiana Pacers. And if that wasn’t ballsy enough, he’s loaded up a further $200,000 on the Thunder to win by 6-10 points. The Thunder hold a 3-2 series edge following a 40-point gem delivered by Jalen Williams in Game 5, and the Pacers must respond. For Drake, he’s back in the game, yes, fundamentally hitting another buzzer-beater not just on the court but to his bank account.

Although Drake has made news in the past by leveling up his betting money with a few big wins, this was a sobering reminder of the roller-coaster ride that is sports gambling, even for a superstar with a basketball arena worth of cash. By airing his losses, he’s peeling back the glitz and glam of celebrity sports betting and providing a real-time lesson in risk. With million-dollar stakes and bragging rights on the line, everyone will be watching that tip-off Thursday not just for the NBA championship but for Drake’s shot at redemption. Win or lose, he keeps proving that his love for the game is one with his longing for the gamble.
