Houston’s rising star d4vd returns with “One More Dance,” a pale and spectral new single that pulls listeners into the melancholy of his latest album, “WITHERED,” due by April 25th via Darkroom/Interscope. Here, with his trademark hint of raw emotion and cinematic storytelling, the 19-year-old singer-songwriter serves up another reflective masterpiece as sharp as it is evocative, with lyrics that stick to you.
“One More Dance” reads like an intimate confession, a maddening, urgent plea cloaked in gentle melody and pained lyricism. d4vd’s voice, bittersweet and yearning, floats over the song’s haze of production, making every word land like a slow-motion heartbreak. There’s an inescapable swing, a love that cannot live but will not let go.
Cody LaPlant (Khalid, Kennyhoopla) directs the cinematic music video, adding weight to the song’s emotional heft. Picking up where d4vd’s album trailer left off, the visual traces a couple (Nicholas Paige & Lailah Gross)whose love for one another leads them on a dangerous path. As IT4MI returns to the album’s world, the video adds to the narrative, further fleshing out d4vd’s never-ending artistry with the lore.
