Former NFL MVP Cam Newton isn’t holding back on his feelings, and this time, he’s using rap to express himself, rather than football. In a heated message shared on his platform, 4th&1, the Carolina Panthers icon took shots at rapper Gillie Da Kid, claiming that Gillie’s hurt feelings stem from the fact that his music has never gained much attention.
The tension between Newton and Gillie started when Cam made some comments about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, which Gillie criticized. However, Cam’s latest remarks suggest that there’s more to this feud than just football. Newton stated firmly, “There will not be no playing with my name,” and hinted that Gillie might be upset about a previous joke he made about Gillie’s music career.

Cam went a step further by joking about Gillie’s album title, “Gilladelphia,” and pointed out that he hasn’t had any singles make it onto the Billboard Hot 100 charts. “Did you know his album was, Gilladelphia?” he teased, questioning its success by saying it “didn’t do no numbers?”
What seemed like playful teasing quickly turned serious when Cam made it clear that he meant business. He said, “Where I’m from, Gillie, we stab and we twist. When you go low, I go to hell,” signifying he won’t back down easily. By highlighting Gillie’s past in music, Cam is targeting something personal, showing that he’s ready for a fight beyond just words. He’s proving that after his football career, he’s found a new battleground in online conflicts. As for Gillie, whether he chooses to respond through his podcast or in his music, this feud just got much more intense.
