Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal trial turned into an even wilder scene today when fashion designer Bryana Bongolan, aka “Bana,” took the stand to testify. Her statement was more fuel added to the fire around the embattled music mogul, who is presently being sued for $10 million by Bongolan herself. Her testimony offered a grim view of drug use, manipulation, and fear underlying the glitzy world of Combs’ empire.

Bongolan started her testimony by discussing her previous friendship with singer and model Cassie Ventura, Diddy’s longtime ex-girlfriend. What started off as casual gossip spiraled into heavy allegations involving both Cassie and Diddy getting high and acting recklessly. Bongolan also noted that she and Cassie engaged in drug use together, with substances that she alleges Diddy would supply, such as ketamine, cocaine, marijuana, and a mystery drug she only describes as “G.” She said the drug-filled sessions were accompanied by lavish shopping sessions and were closely monitored by Diddy.

In a creepy remembrance, Bongolan shared how she and Cassie were out shopping in April 2016. Cassie testified that Diddy texted her and asked her where they were, then minutes later sent her a complete list of every place they had gone that day. At this moment, she offered, stood a template of surveillance and control that loomed over their lives. But the portion of her testimony that might be the most damaging was her personal involvement in buying drugs. Bongolan testified that she frequently bought OxyContin for Cassie, and she was always paid back and once purchased the rapper cocaine. Her language implies not only proximity to drug use but active involvement in making it possible for the parties concerned.

Although her charges are allegations and will be examined by the courts, they are serious accusations that call into doubt Diddy’s conduct and possible criminal exposure. The courtroom fell silent as Bongolan described a toxic atmosphere in which power, influence, and fear all intertwined dangerously. She also briefly addressed violence in her seized statement. Diddy had once flung a knife at Cassie and, at a different juncture, wielded Bongolan over a balcony. Those harrowing details were not the emphasis of today’s session, but they do emphasize the amount of abuse that Bongolan contends she and others have had to endure being around the hip-hop boss.

Bongolan’s testimony is just one of a series of accusations and legal challenges Diddy has faced in recent months. There have been no rulings on the validity of these claims, but today’s disclosures are guaranteed to add a little extra scrutiny in the court of public opinion, and some raised eyebrows among the entertainment and legal communities. This trial is not over, and Diddy’s legal team will undoubtedly step up attacks on Bongolan’s credibility and motives in the days ahead. But Monday’s testimony, with its lurid details and disturbing allegations, is one of the drama-filled days in what has become a landmark legal case for the hip-hop world. As the testimony continues, all eyes are on the courtroom and on what other secrets have yet to emerge.
